Order direct from product listing page

I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up a site for clients where customers can order directly from the category listing page rather than needing to go to the details page. All of the products in the site have attributes though. So, here is what I need to do.

1. Make the thumbnail pop up the larger image instead of going to the details page
2. Show the full product details
3. Have the quantity box and buy now buttons
4. Have the attribute selection

I figured out that we'll have to do customization for the buy now and quantity boxes on the page with products with attributes and I think our programmer has that sorted out. But, what I'm wondering is what is the best way to go about the rest? Anyone have tips on the best way to handle it?

Putting all that info in the product listing page would be a major programming job. You might want to post in Commercial Help Wanted.

People have posted in the past about putting attributes etc. in the listing page. You might want to search for those, as some gave information on successful modifications, if I recall correctly.

The rest of your items have been answered here before, too.
The full description takes a simple modification to /includes/modules/your_template/product_listing.php (search for zen_clean_html); you would reset the number of characters of description displayed in admin > Configuration > Product Listing.
If you want the "product details" to show, that code should be transferable from tpl_product_info_display.php.
