Default Trying to change overall font style and color....and make side boxes solid

I dont' know if I'm just searching with the wrong keywords or what, but I'm having a bugger of a time finding what I need! LOL!

What I want to do is this:

*make my side boxes a solid color
*change the font of the box titles, individual categories, etc.
*change the color of the font in the above areas and all links

You;ll need to have a look at your stylesheet.css in the catalog/includes directory.

Search the folder in which you keep an updated copy of your website for stylesheet.css

    BACK UP THE SITE.

On the web look for the text near what you want to change and then search for it in the page source. Where it says id="navMainSearch" for instance, look for navMainSearch on your style sheet and make the changes there.
    Cheers!

    Ma,
All this criteria to your site can be fixed easily if you download the browser Mozilla Firefox, with the addon called Web Developer and Firebug

    1. A free web developing browser and software to easily edit your site make changes for you to view, then upload in an ftp program to make your changes

I am in the publichtml/includes. Is this where I go to templates/mytemplate/css to the stylesheet?

Once I get there, how do I back up the site? Do you mean on a disc? Sorry, just wanting to be sure

    Hare-

I downloaded the firefox, which is a browser it seems?

I couldn't find something called web developer, but I did find firebug and I downloaded that. Is there something else I need?

I figured out how to open the thing. I tried adding a font name, but it didn't do anything on that upper screen.

As for making the boxes solid colors, changing the font color, etc....I still need to know what codes to change.

And, when I make changes in this thing, are they automatic or do I have to click something to save them? I mean, if I make a change will it show automatically above, but if I don't click a "save" somewhere it will still stay the same on my "real" site?

I'm so afraid of messing something up!

Firefox with web developer or firebug will allow you to play with the stylesheet and see the results immediately. To make the changes permanent, you have to save them locally and FTP them to the correct folder on your site... otherwise any FF user with those addons would be able to change the stylesheet info on any site on the net.

Check my reply to your earlier post about adding a background image and work backwards to remove it from places you want a solid color instead of the image.

I didn't even think of that! Thank you!

I am LOVING this firebug thing

I'm wondering though, do I really have to go through EVERY page of my site with it? I thought that when I changed those font/sidebox colors that it would be that way through the whole site!

Also, I saved the first page on my computer. Which is the correct folder to ftp it to?

You're not saving the "page". You should be saving the stylesheet.css which will control all the colors on the site. It should be uploaded to includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css
