Hi all

Is there a way to set up a test account, then make a test purchase to make sure everything is working OK? (without actually debiting my card).

If you have your store set up for checks or money orders you can do a test order that way, or if you have a separate paypal acct you can pay yourself with one paypal and then do a refund.

The other thing I did to do some tweaking was to set up a gift certificate and sent it to myself, then I could spend that money.

I am actually wondering myself how do you create a test account? Is it in the admin interface because I can't find anything...any replies would be appreciated. Thanks

As of my knowledge it's not possible to create accounts from the admin panel, but you can create an account the regular way, from the store itself. Like any customer would do, you know :)

Why would you test the creation of a new account in the admin panel. Do it like a customer would do it without access to the admin panel. If you are not able to create an account on your on shop website, how do you expect customers can do it and buy your products...

Like tino said, it is really important to see how your store operates from the customers point of view. While you can do a level of testing by using the check/money order or gift certificate options, it still doesn't really test the whole process - from start to finish - that the customer will experience if they pay by credit card or paypal, etc.

One option is to create a product for $1, say, and then run through a couple of test purchases. I figure that I get the proceeds in the end anyway, a few small purchases are well worth the money to have the peace of mind that if I have customers sitting in front of my store, credit card in hand, that they are not going to be faced with an error and end up doing their shopping elsewhere.

Just don't forget to delete your test product after you're finished testing.

I completely agree with you but I do not see a login area on my site so I wasn't sure how to add it. Do you know how I would activate that function?
