How to edit default page template?

Im new to zen cart and do have it installed on my server, i like the default template but i dont know how to find and edit the default text and pictures, I did try to edit the main page using zen cart admin panel but I dont see the items i want to remove or edit such as putting my company name on the header area.
Do i need to copy the source code to another html editor to do these changes? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend reading through the "What Every New Zen Cart User Needs to Know" section of the FAQ. There's lots of specific examples in there and by following them you will get a feel for how to start making the changes that would suit your site.
