Default Load several pictures to one product

    Hi

I think that someone asked why Zen doesn't allow to load few pictures to one product. Maybe someone has a complete solution? Not sure that I need to create a new one if it has already been released.
Thanks for any ideas and especially for complete solution:)

Adding more than one picture is done with extentions "_1, _2" etc on the end of the name.

Thanks, that's nice solution. But one thing. Users who load content to the shop don't like to use ftp clients and not often know what it is. They just want to add multiply pictures using admin area only. Is it possible?

It is possible. For multiple images, it can be slower than FTP, but for just one or two, it may be quicker.

Browse to the additional image you want, then go through the process of confirming the product edit. Repeat for all additional images.

Browse to any medium or large versions of images you want, select the correct folder on the right, and confirm the edit.

Last, browse to the base (small/main thumbnail) image, select the Main image folder, and confirm that edit. All of the additional and larger images will be in the Zen Cart folders, and the correct base image name will be in the database so the rest will be recognized by ZC.

It works, but is cumbersome for more than an occasional addition.

    ok, thank you for explanation.
But at all it is not easiest way to load pictures for non-professional users. It makes hard to load quality product with quality descruption.images. I think that it may be realised so:
    1) create new configuration value to save maximum preferred quantity of loaded picts per one time when adding product. So user can deside how much maximum picts he can load when he add new product.
    2) create additional fields of FILE type for adding more picts into the product adding form, so all loading picts are "main" (_LGR and _MED will be generated automatically in step 3.
    3) use the "image handler 2" mechanism to load pictures, so required quantity of pictures per one product can be loaded and their large and medium variants loaded automatically so.

I understand that it can be realised as an Add-On, but as user and programmer I can guess that it would be a great feature of Zen if include it as main module to Zen. Why no, just look how many people have troubles with image loading.

Sure it was my own opinion and maybe such idea already realised but I think it can be very usefull fo everybody.
    Thanks.

This goes into the "features vs. bloat" argument.

There is a fully functional image mechanism in ZC core, and those who want a more extensive or different system can fairly easily install IH2 or something else (there are "hooks" for this in the core).
The more functions are in the core, the more code there is to download and maintain. It is a common criticism of Zen Cart that there are too many features ("too much bloat") in the core already.

The devs have tried to strike a balance between including features that would be difficult to add on (like multiple language ability) and not including features that are easy to add on.

The function that you want i believe is part of the admin rewrite. Take a look at the road map for a timeline.
