How can I make certain create-account fields NOT required?

Is it possible to be able to take the required field labels and stars off of birthday and phone number. I don't want to have customers have to fill out either of those and I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of those fields so I am thinking that I can remove them from being required.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Take a look at your settings in admin - configuration - customers.

Hi,

I was wondering about the same thing too. The Customer Details area doesn't give you the option to make giving your phone number 'optional'. Any ideas?

I figured it out and this is how you do it. In the configuration > minimum values and set the fields you want to be optional to a minimum of zero.

Still not work on mine, as Ive had my cart working for a fairly long time now & plenty customers still dont add things ive got numbers in there, even when I did have DOB as 6, many were blank, and some still are not filling in other fields. Understand the theory about 0=optional so if * Required how do they avoid the phone number entry?

Ones I really want filled in are;
Telephone * Required (for when the emails are bouncing)
Customer Referral (Want this * Required to track sources)
