Manufacturers sidebox does not display

I'm trying to figure out how to get the manufacturers sidebox to actually display. I go to admin > tools > layout boxes controller and it says that the sideboxes/manufacturers.php and sideboxes/manufacturer_info.php are both on, but I see no sidebox for manufacturers on the main page. I basically want to add a few logos of manufacturers (which I have added manufacturers in the admin > catalog > manufacturers and added the logo pics) and link them to the manufacturers categories on the shopping cart.

The manufacturer's Logo only shows in the Manufacturer Info sidebox that show on the product details page, and that only shows if a manufacturer has been linked to that specific product.
