    help question multiple items

I wish to sell paintings on my website,
each painting is availabe in three forms; the original, a print and cards.
do i have to list the painting as three seperate products?

Or is there a way for the customer to chose which version they want on the one item page?

We faced this issue a couple of years ago. We initially tried using ATTRIBUTES, where a customer got to one product page, then selected either:

    Original Painting
    Giclee Print
    Standard Print

... but it did not work largely because we had ONE original, but could have scores of prints.

So we set them up as Separate Products, and using the stock management features, got rid of the Original listing once the painting had sold, but kept the Giclee and Standard print products available.

Stock By Attributes Module may, however, be a solution. (See free add-ons)

So you didnt actually mange to find a solution? you had to list them all seperatly?

my problem is that we have over 50 paintings, so to list them seperatly it would mean making 150 item listings!!!

We had over 400 artists (painters) listing 8 to 12 works each (nearly 4000 "originals".

We sent them a spreadsheet template (based on easy populate) and told them to fill it in.

We collated all the returned spreadsheets into one EP file, and loaded that on the site.

4000+ original products, (plus 4000+ prints and 4000+ giclee) took about 3 - 4 hours to re-configure and load.

    Easy... with Easy Populate.

ok, so I have a really dumb question... what is easy populate? I use wiserhosting, which atomatically installed Zencart, so I do not have it on my machine. can easy populate still be used? or do I need to install Zencart locally?

    p.s- thanks

    Easy Populate Standard, v1.2.5.5: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=395

Creating 150 separate product isn't as difficult as you might think. You can always create the product for the original and copy that information to the other 2 categories (prints and cards). The same image would be used for the prints and cards. You'd just have to edit the product informtation to suit (size, price, weight etc).

Easy Populate Standard - you need version 1.2.5.4

Download the module, unzip it on your computer. READ the installation instructions, FTP module to your server, Install EP via the tools menu in your admin panel.
