Paypal: new fraud managment filters

We received this message about paypal fraud management filters being activated in Feb 2009

We're pleased to inform you that PayPal is upgrading your free fraud tools. Starting in February 2009, Risk Controls will be upgraded to the new Fraud Management Filters. Your current settings won't change, but now there will be a "pending" status that allows you to manually review risky transactions.

What do I need to do?

For the new filters to work properly, your web developer or cart provider will need to update your PayPal integration. To get started, visit:

Is there anything we need to be doing in preparation for this? I looked around the forums and didn't really find anything.

PayPal's Fraud Management Filters is Risk Control 2.0 rebranded and is still just as useless! You don't need to change anything in ZC, some day in the future the API and IPN code may be updated to support these new "features". In the meantime if you want to setup the filters then anything caught by a filter will have to be manually reviewed by logging into the PayPal site. Do yourself a favor and completely ignore these useless PayPal filters and go get the MaxMind Credit Card Fraud Addon which supports all payment types including PayPal.
