Default EZ page vs Define Page - when to use which?

    I'm a newbie here,

I'm having a hard time figuring out when to use which method for what pages. I've adde the meta add-on to EZ pages, which is awesome, but I'm not so crazy about the URL EZ pages generate. Plus they are dynamic, does that hurt SEO in any way?

Can you guys tell me if you use both methods? When do you use which and which one do you find more efficient, practical?

    Thanks guys!

Most Content Management Systems generate pages dynamically and the URLs generated for both EZ-Pages and define pages are dynamic.

It's possible that both would be more attractive to search engines if they used so-called "SEO-friendly" links, but debate has gone back and forth on this in this forum without conclusion.

In general I would recommend EZ-Pages for straightforward content requiring no PHP processing and needed in English only (although there is a multilanguage add-in) and define pages for anything more complicated.

This makes complete sense. I don't suppose there is an add-on to help those EZ page URLS look a bit prettier? I looked in the forums, the Simple SEO URL mod seems pretty buggy.

Is there anything else you could recommend?

There is a thread comparing the main SEO URL mods here.

What makes you think so :)? I'm just curious. Is the fast rate of new releases = no good? Or you feel bad because of the number of people posting problems because they installed the mod incorrectly? :)

Anyhow, use ezpage when your content is static, otherwise use define page (ezpage cant have php code inside)
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

I've not followed the progress of Simple SEO URLs recently, but can say that it is the only non-commercial SEO URL package still being supported by its author (and probably the only such package being truly supported).

It's easy to look at people expressing frustration in a support thread and conclude that there is something wrong with the mod. I've seem one of mine, so stable that it hasn't needed significant changes for over two years, described as buggy based on comments from the minority of people who had problems installing it.

Unless problems are specific and unanswered in the support thread, it's generally safer to assume that they do work, and that the majority of users using them without problem just didn't feel the need to post to the support thread to say so.

I guess a little of both. I for one have tried to install this mod but was a bit stuck when my urls showed no change. This might have something to do with not being on a live server, so I thought I would just hold off on SEO until my OSC to Zen Cart conversion is complete (what a chore!).

I wonder why Zen Cart includes the defines for very simple pages: shipping, privacy etc. So you are saying those should be EZ pages?

Is there any disadvantage from using dynamic pages instead of static pages SEO wise? That's my only concern really.

    Merry XMAS btw!

"my urls showed no change" you probably either didnt edit the file as instructed, or havent turned on the module via admin. This module is off by default, and for a good reason.

    No, not really

    Maybe this will help:
