    help question Coupon Zone Restriction - Not working

    Ok i have set up for my client a new coupon and he doesn't say want canada - MB (manitoba) to get the discount.. (Zen Cart 1.3.8a)

    So I set up the Coupon like so:

    Coupon Amount - 100
    Coupon Minimum Order - 0.00
    Free Shipping - NO
    Coupon Code - 1234
    Uses per Coupon - 10
    Uses per Customer - 1
    start and end date - now till jan 2009
    Coupon Zone Restriction: Canada-MB (there is a drop down of
    - none-
    Canada - MB
    Canada - ALL
    USA & World)

    This is the same as my tax zones... So I put it to Canada MB so then I went to place an order and put in the 1234 code.. and my shipping address is to MB.. and it took off the $100 even though I'm from the same zone..

    Any idea why its allowing me to do this.. As not sure if this is a BUG or not.. please any help...

    The Coupon Zone Restriction means only allow Discount Coupons to be used when the Billing Zone matches the Restricted Zones ...

    If you set to a Zone for Alaska and the Billing Address is Alaska then the Discount Coupon works ...

    Is this true? I.e. that it is the billing address that the coupon zone restriction checks? My experiments suggest that it is not the billing address and might be the shipping address (something also suggested by this change log: http://groups.google.com/group/googl...ory?version=18 (search for RC1.3RC1).

    I realise the above change log is for a google checkout, but this matches the behaviour I see: I've set coupons up for discounts to match the countries identified by the World Bank as being low income economies. When I enter the code for a virtual product, I get the discount now matter what country is in the billing address. This is on Version Zen Cart 1.3.8a Database Patch Level: 1.3.8.

    I need the discounts to check against the zone on the billing address rather than the shipping address since most of my products are virtual (hence no shipping address), I'm giving step discounts to the low income countries, and the point is to help out people who are paying from low income places.

    So, does anybody know a) if I'm right that it is checking against shipping rather than billing addresses and b) how to switch it so it checks against billing?

    An update. It looks like the current version still has an old bug in it. The problem (and a patch that I can confirm works with the latest version, having just tried it), can be found in the user forums here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...20&postcount=8

    With this patch installed, billing addresses are validated against zones before they are applied.

    Hi,

    I have zencart v1.3.9d. It was just installed in July, 2010


    I tried to follow your tutorial regarding "how to create coupon."

    For zone restriction: "If you want to set up restrictions so the coupon applies to only to certain products or categories, click the Restrictions button to set them up"

    But the restriction part in my website shows as "NONE OR Florida" instead of categories or product.

    Can you please advise me what to do?

    There are two restrictions ...

    1 When making a Discount Coupon, there is a Zone Restriction that you can add

    2 AFTER the Discount Coupon is made, you will see in the right hand panel a NEW button that reads RESTRICTIONS

    This is used to add Restrictions by Categories and Products ...

    NOTE: 97.5% of the time, I always add a Restriction for:

    Category TOP Deny

    then, I continue to add the details for Categories and/or Products ...

    Hi all,

    I am on v1.3.7 getting coupon_zone_restriction field not found in the database, and I confirmed that indeed no such field exists - is there an SQL patch that could solve this?

    I removed the PHP code for the coupon_zone_restriction from checkout_process.php because this client does not require zonal restrictions, but the ot_coupon.php page of the checkout process is still giving the same error, and my efforts to intuitively fix the code there broke the checkout altogether
