help question Noob Question About Group Pricing

    Please forgive the dumb question

I want to set up a Customer Group that pays a one time free for special discount pricing.

    A) Can I use the Group Pricing Feature?

    B) Once I add the Group Pricing Rate, how does this work?

As customers add this to their cart, do I just edit their customer info in the Options box under Discount Pricing Group? Then it will deduct the group discount when ever they place an order?

    And one more different question.
Is it possible to set up 2 mailing lists within the same cart? So I can have a separate mailing list for this group?

    Thanks SO much!
    Donna

After your customers have paid their fee (however you do that is up to you), you can manually edit each customer via the admin and set them to the appropriate group-discount setting.

Then, whenever those customers place future orders, their entire order will be discounted by the rate you've specified for the group. All their prices will show normal while shopping, but they'll see the discount applied in their shopping cart on the final page of checkout.

Yes, that's possible by making a slight alteration to one of the records in the database. The following post discusses the concept: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79691
Once you've done that, you'll see the new group show up in the pulldown list of audiences in your email/newsletter screens.
