Custom style sheet (css) does not display

I just uploaded zen-cart 1.3.8 via filezilla with ASCII transfer mode to my server (concentric unix standard basic plan )

The CSS page that comes up is only after I change the names of .htaccess to htaccess_off. the CSS is not like the classic contemporary green the colors are gray and no pictures or logos. On the Admin page I have the green color and no zen- cart logo, some of the buttons are totally black

If I am to write limit and allowoveride how should they be written into the zen-cart file structure. and or what other changes need to be done.

Make sure all your paths in the config file are correct.
It is strange that it works when .htaccess is disabled, unless you have some incorrect rules in there.

Maybe you can paste the content of the htaccess file here.

Also, make sure you have the correct template selected in admin > tools>templates.

Hmm, are you using the shared SSL on your web server?

I've seen problems with the stylesheet loading when using a shared SSL on a shared server.

You should use auto mode to upload since Filezilla (or any FTP client) will detect the file type and change the upload as needed.

For the most part I have as the saying goes been there and done that. I am very new to the zen-cart family and very persistent in solving my problem on my own. I have read the FAQ's and many Google searches on zen-cart I do find the TutorialsFAQ community forum and Wiki a very good source.

Is this the correct way to write allowoverride in the .htaccess
