How to add extra fields in the Write A Review form?

Hi

As we know in zencart there is only one text input area in the Write A Review form for comments.

I was wondering if there is a way of adding extra form fields in the write a review form page. I have seen it here http://www.rei.com/WriteReview and its just fantastic. You may have to register to see the form but its worth it.

Header of the review form section (gifts/Pros/Best Uses/Describe Yourself and Bottom Line) has drop downs with pre written options to select like. Naturally field names and the options can be anything.

Basically I am trying to make review process as as less painless as possible.


Final review would have similar format as below
-------------------------------------------

Gift:No
Pros:Good Geometry, Comfortable, Lightweight
Best Uses:Casual Riding, Spirited Riding
Describe Yourself:Avid Cyclist
Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments: blah blah blah....this is the text input area like we have in zen-cart now.

Can you please suggest a mod or at least how to add extra form fields would be a great help. I am sure we would all love this.

ZenCart is Open Source and can be extended to the extent of your capabilities...

I dont think anyone did it. It's entirely up to you. As for the approach, not much can be helped, you just have to study the code and make the changes you want.

Most people who come here are novices like me who have no idea how to make it from the start. However I am good at changing and adopting the code to my needs, once I I have a code as a stating point. Now I know now that best of your knowledge no body has attempted , I shall wait until some has. In the mean time I will have a go at it my self. I'll scream if and when it breaks :-)

One can review the write a review files as a starting point.
What you referenced will also need some js for the dropdowns and some DB table work to be able to have a place to store these additional bits of data in a structure.
A bit involved but not impossible - - just overly complicated to square in a few posts in this forum.
