Here is what I am wanting to do.
I sell a product in 2 different materials. If they choose one material, they get a choice of 3 colors. If they choose the other material, I offer it in 6 colors.
How do I get it to show certain color options depending on which material is chosen? Thanks in advance.

You can't, without custom coding.
That's called 'dependent attributes', and Zencart doesn't do it yet.
