Default Yahoo And Bt Internet Email issues

    Hi

I am having problems sending emails to yahoo and I think this is to do with domain keys or something else in zencart.

I can send email from my webmail account to Yahoo and have domain keys configured correctly however if i send an email from Zencart it does not send.

I also have another website using the same latest update of zencart with the same zencart email settings on the same VPS which is sending fine. I am using PHP option to send emails on both and i have tried smtp, smtp auth sendmail etc and none of these send to Yahoo.

Is there a way i can duplicate the exact settings from the zencart installation that works, or a tool to provide more troubleshooting errors other than the standard cannot send to recipient one.

    Thanks
    Tracey

Have you duplicated the email settings for the site that works in the site that doesn't?

    Hi

I have returned to this issue again, I used a workaround after posting this however i really need to use the built in email tool.

I have followed this email troubleshooting guide and enabled archiving however i cannot see the test emails i am sending to Yahoo appear in the archive list so it doesnt look like it is getting past zencart. I have replicated settings exactly from another zencart shop hosted on the same VPS yet it still says :

NOTICE: FAILED to send email to all recipients: [email protected]

    I have also tried smtp.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!!!

    Hi

I've just noticed that this isn't just effecting yahoo, it's effecting mail using the "send email" within zencart backend to any subscriber or customer?

    Any ideas...anyone? I'm getting desperate!!

    Cheers!!

Zen Cart simply submits the email message.
If you're using "PHP" as the transport method in Zen Cart, then the email is sent from the same server as your website is hosted on.
If you're using one of the SMTP transport methods, then the email is sent from whatever SMTP server you specified.

If *that* server (whichever it's using) isn't "allowed" to send emails impersonating your domain name, then many email servers will reject the message when attempting to handle the delivery. Some will reject it (silently) at the source. Some will reject it on the destination end. Some will deliver it with {spam} in the subject line. Every server handles it differently. There is no definitive rule.

If the server doing the sending isn't "allowed", either by SPF and/or domainKey configurations, then it's no surprise that things aren't working. You can work with your hosting company about properly configuring SPF and domainKeys values.

Zen Cart has NO control over any of that.

You need, as already advised, to set up an SPF record on your server for any domain sending to BT/Yahoo mail addresses. If you are using a BT/Yahoo internet service to send your SMTP domain based emails over then this is called "Relaying" and won't be allowed. You must either use the PHP/Sendmail option or use an SMTP service based on your domain.

As this is a Virtual Private Server you can also reset SMTP to use Port 26 and not Port 25, as routinely it is relayed mail on Port 25 that gets blocked.

One final thing, go to the Spam Cop and Spam Haus websites and check your servers' ip address, to see if it's on any blacklist.

    Hi

I am so confused! I have done some further tests by sending an email to another yahoo email account and it gets there, although it does appear in the spam box using the zencart send email function for some reason (this is random though, i sent a newsletter yesterday and it appeared in the inbox, today i send the same newsletter and several test emails and they all appear in SPAM)

If i send an email to the yahoo account with the non delivery issue through Outlook using SMTP from the same keepitpersonal email address at keepitpersonal.co.uk it is sent fine and doesn't appear in SPAM either. I am using domain keys and it is working fine as Yahoo identifies the email as domain keys authenticated.

I have also noticed that the welcome emails, although they are being sent ( i can see this is the email archive add on) are not arriving .

    Thanks for your extensive replies.

    Tracey
