My Cart shows Items out of stock Why?

what I did is I put an item up that had 3 in stock then I put those 3 items in a cart then logged out and loggend in under a different name and then tried to add the item to a cart at it said that it was sold out. what do you think is going worng

Clear your cookies and cache - that item says there are 11 in stock and I was able to add it to my cart with no problems.

what about when it happens to the customer?
