    Default Handling Orders which include items out of stock

    Hi there,

    I've read through as many posts as I can find relating to this but none seem to answer my question .... so here it is:

    I want to be able to
    - display products when they are out of stock (I can do that bit, found that through these pages);
    - allow people to add them to their cart (can do that too);
    - show a warning when they go through check out (can do that too);

    The problem comes with
    - how do I find out which products are being ordered when out of stock so that I can order new stock (I will be doing this for lots of products as I simply cannot stock everything in my "catalogue");
    - how is the customer invoiced? Do they pay all up front or is this split between the items being despatched?

    Did you try turning on the Email for Low Stock and set the Stock Level for Low Stock to something that can work for you?

    Thanks for the reply.

    No because I don't need to know if something is low on stock what I need to know is that some has ordered, for example, 3 different products of which one is out of stock; charge them for the 2 products in stock; dispatch the in stock products; order the missing one; and charge them/dispatch the third product when it comes in.

    Does that make sense?

    I am not sure what the best method is for this for you other than to either mark the Products as (out of stock) back ordered when more than what is in stock has been ordered but allow the checkout ...

    Or, you are in for a long re-write ...
