help with index page chaos

I installed zen cart and removed/customized as much as I can through the admin panel and css.

for some reason, the home page and category pages are displaying 2 whole pages stacked on one another: the cart on top and (correct) home page on the bottom.

any suggestions?

The issues that you are seeing cannot have been created via the Admin or by CSS. It looks as though something is very wrong with your templates, but it's only possible to see what by looking at the files on your server, not from the code that they generate.

I'd recommend comparing the files in your template's common folder with those in the default Zen Cart distribution's template_default. Look particularly at the tpl_main_page.php template.

i don't have any in my common folders. If I change the name on the other template folder, the bottom half disappears, but then nothing works correctly.
