You can have a customer Purchase a Gift Certificate or you can send a Gift Certificate to the customer from the Admin in the Gift Certificate/Coupons ... Mail Gift Certificate ...
Then the Customer would need to redeem the Gift Certificate from either:
1 the link in the email
2 the Gift Certificate FAQ in the Information sidebox
3 on the checkout_payment page during checkout and then they need to Apply the amount to use on the checkout_payment page
There is not a built in way to apply an amount to the Customer's Gift Certificate Balance in any other manner, at this time ...

Help. I want to refrence the 1st discount coupon on the customers account information (customer's side - not admin). Any ideas how I would pull this in?
I have gift certificates set up correctly (as per the tutorial directions) and have had a customer succesfully order one and I have released it and can see it in her "GV Balance". It was a gift for another person. However, she also purchased another (physical) item that required shipping in the same order. Would she have received an email telling her how she can transfer her GV balance for this transaction? Where can I find record of that email (in the admin, on my email server)?

She can go to the GV FAQs ... or her My Account ... where she will see her GV Balance and be able to Send it to another person ...

Hello all,
Rather than start a new thread i thought it would be ok to add to this one.
I have a problem with my gift voucher system.
When someone has been sent an email to say they have a gift voucher, they get the option of redeeming it, or redeem it at check out.
Now when they click redeem all works fine, but if they go to shop there is no box (where it says redeem discount code / gift voucher) to input the gift voucher code.
This is not much of a problem because when they reddem the voucher from the email link, the amount in their account is then shown in the gv box.
Is it possible to change the link in the email message to re-direct them to the F&Q section where they can redeem it manually?
If so can someone let me know what template i neeed to amend.
