help question Please help with a slow site.

    Hi can some one help?

I am fairly new to Zen Cart. I set up my site last year and all has been well. however I have noticed recently that it has been getting slower. I think this may be a database issue but do not know where to start. I have no knowledge of Mysql or PHP. Have just follwed the tutorials to date and all has gone well with setting up the store.

I am on a budget so commercial help is probably to expensive. I have just activated the displaying of Parse time etc to get an idea of what is happening - see below:

    Parse Time: 6.080
    Number of Queries: 130
    Query Time: 0.10915561125183

Is this slow? or am I looking in the wrong place?

I also find that the admin pages are slow same sort of Parse time as above.

Have the following error when I go into MYPHP admin area:

"Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.27 differs from your MySQL server version 4.1.20. This may cause unpredictable behavior"

I have contacted my hosting provider about this (pulse, use to be supanet) and the person who replied did not bellieve that this woul cause a problem, however he has forwarded my email to the developers to look at further.

    To start of.
    1. can some one tell me if these times are slow
    2. recommend where I start with Mysql so i can improve my sites performance.

    Turn GZip ON ...

Turn that Tracker script you have in the footer OFF ...

    Does this speed things up?

This is a reason I am suspecting that script in the footer ...

The images are gorgeous, by the way, and so nice and tiny ...

Well the script in the footer is the google analytics code

I would suggest switchig back to the classic template and checking speeds

    Hi Guys,
    Thanks for your replies.

I have tried what you said Barco and switching to the classic template made no difference in speed. still getting Parse times of around 6 seconds.

I don't know how to measure it but my static HTML pages load nice and quick.

The Code in the footer is indeed Google analytics I would preffer to leave it in. I would imagine that such a widely used tool would not be causing this problem? Maybe others can comment have you had a problem with Google analytics slowing your site?

I am using another tracker called supertracker. But intend to remove it completely - just not sure how yet have to do some research. I have remove all the rows from the database and optomized the database via the Zen admin screen. It has shown maybe a very slight improvement - but I had not measure the Parse time before and after.

    Any more ideas appriciated
