    Default No drop down options

I am trying to add a drop down for gift certificates on a new site in the works. - I have 4 options that I want to have a drop down for. When the options were created I chose dropdown but all are showing up as a radio buttons and all options are pre-selected. I have played around with all of the options but I can't seem to get the drop down to work.

Sounds like you made 4 Option Names and 4 Option Values rather than 1 Option Name with 4 Option Values ...

NOTE: an Option Name that is the Option Type for Dropdown will automatically convert to a selected Radio Button when there is only 1 Option Value so that the customer does not have to click the dropdown to discover there isn't a choice ...

Looking at your site, it appears you have discovered most of this ...

Yea- I figured it out. For anyone finding themselves with a problem understanding the structure (like me) the protocol would be like this:
    1) Create Option Name (Catalog>Option Name Manager)
    2) Create Option Values (Catalog>Option Value Manager)
    3) Use Attribute controller to associate option values and names to a specific product. Make sure that you chose the correct category and product here. (Catalog>Attributes Controller) There are some other choices that you have to make along the way like if you want a drop down etc. - Also a good idea to make sure that in the product edit area that you check the box for "Product priced by Attributes" or else you may see something like "Starting at:" instead of "Starting at: $15.00" on the live site.
