    Default server switch

I've been doing this but have a question. The instructions say to overwrite the entire site. Is this necessary or is there a shorter list of files that actually need to be replaced?

Two configs and the new template?

    thanks

I am suspecting that you are "Upgrading" and the best way is to overrite all files...
Mostly as it would take you longer to assemble a changed file set for uploading than it would take to just overrite them all.

I am following the instructions for switching servers.

Install same version of cart on new server.
Copy 2 config files to local drive.
    Overwrite the entire site.
    Copy DB from old server
    drop it into new server
    overwrite the 2 config files
    use the fix cache key.

Wondreing if I have to really overwrite the entire write of if I can just add the new template and the 2 config files. Then activate the custon tempalte. Everytime I try and overwrite the entire site something gets screwed up and can;t track it down.

Try not installing, but maintain a copy of the previously installed config files for path reference.

You need to create a DB, upload the files set from your other install(on linux/cPanel one can compress the files and then on another extract the tar.gz) this makes for a fast upload as only one file to then extract/expand...Check what you can do on a winbox

Edit the configs to reflect the DB and path alterations and you should be ready to go
