Free download order status

Hi
I'm setting up a MP3 download shop and have some free downloads in every category. I set the attributes to show the status=2 "processing" when ordinary products are ordered with check/moneyorder payment module, but would like the free samples to go to status=3 "delivered" ad once - so the customer can get the download link directly ( changed the limit for downloadlink from default 2 to 3) . Is there anywhere to flag the attribute for order status by product and not just by payment module?

There is not a built-in option for this at the present time.
You'd have to write custom code to overlook the order-status setting and instead set the free downloads as available immediately, and be sure you don't accidentally make everything available.
