Category Drop Down?

In some of the stores I've visited when you go to view all the products from a certain manufacturer this are filter results drop downs (one sorts Items Starting With and the other by the category that manufacturer has products in). However in my store I only have the Items Starting With dropdown. Where and How do I turn the Category drop down on?

I added a Category Drop Down to my search, but that was a mod maybe these sites that you have been seeing are using a mod, you should ask one?
