Godaddy hosting supports ZenCart as one of its "quick install" applications--in other words they do the installation for you. In my situation, the "quick install" DID NOT WORK!
After the GoDaddy Quick Install installation (via GoDaddy Hosting Connection) I could not access the admin console. Entry of the admin name and password didn't do anything. The only thing that happened was that the entries were cleared. There were no errors. Requesting that the password be sent to the admin email did not work either. I tried changing the sql db admin name and password as discussed in the documentation to Admin admin but that didn't work either.
Several others Godaddy hosting reported similar issues and some solutions that I tried. They did not indicate if they did a manual installation or used the quick install feature of the hosting service. One person indicated that a php5.ini file necessary for Magneto did not work with Zencart and had to change the name back to php.ini. The renaming of the ini file to php5.ini is necessary with some applications such as Magneto and I had to use it with the IonCube application. This is to make use of PHP5.
Godaddy essentially refused to support the installation that they performed. They indicated there was no errors during the installation and that I was on my own--this is the standard line.
After spending hours searching the net and trying the various remedies to resolve the problem, I finally did a manual installation of ZenCart.
You know what they say, if you want it done right, do it yourself.
The manual installation works fine so far. I can access both the application and the admin console with no problem even with the php.ini file renamed to php5.ini!
