How do I give free shipping on certain products?

I am trying to configure sending hard copy coupons for a pet food store. The coupons will be free shipping, I tried playing around with the free shipping modules but that didnt work out. since this is the only product in the store that will have free shipping, and the other 2000 products i never configured their weight so they are all set at zero, is there some sort of quick fix that will allow people too purchase this hard copy coupon that will not tack on a shipping charge?


I looked in Modules ---> Order Total and saw this module

Discount Coupon, Hard Copy Gift Certificates or Fund Raising Coupons

Will that be any help at all? and how do I configure the coupons to work with that

Why don't you just set the product to have free shipping, and enable the freeshipper module?

I tried that, but for sme reason that made everything in the store free!

You are willing to pay $XX.XX of shipping when people buy Doggie's Finest Jumbo bag ...

But you want them to use a Discount Coupon so that you know that they used:
FREDSNEWSPAPER

on the Discount Coupon Code so you can see how effective it was ...

Why not make a Discount Coupon for that amount and put in the description that it will cover shipping up to $XX.XX amount and then set it up with a Restriction for that Product and how much off it is for ...

Sorry perhaps i didnt make myself clear.

They will not be using this code on the site.

What will happen is that its a $10 off coupon / gift certificate

They pay $10 on the site. and since it is only a piece of paper I will be sending them, I will not be charging the default $ shipping.

So simply, how do I allow free shipping for only this one item. I tried adding the FREE SHIPPER module, but for some reason that made all the products on the web site have free shipping. I know this must be a simple fix that is so simple that it is just slipping by me.

Then you do as DrByte said ...

Mark the Product as: Always Free Shipping YES

Add the Free Shipping freeshipper shipping module for if this is all that is in the shopping Cart ...

NOTE: as this is not a REAL Gift Certificate be sure NOT to use the Product Model GIFT as the first 4 characters ...
