    Default Disabling Right Click/Copy Paste

I found a website that gives me codes for disabling right click as well as copy/paste but it doesnt tell exactly where to put the codes.

For the right click it just says it works best if included in your "head tag".

For the copy/paste it says to include in your "body tag".

My question is, does anyone know the exact name/location of these files that the site is referring to? I really dont want to start guessing and mess something up all together.

    Thanks for any help :)

This has been asked many times before. The short answer is that it is pointless to do this - it is easily bypassed by someone who wants the image, and it will annoy legitimate visitors who use the right button for navigation.

If you really need to protect your images, use a watermark (also discussed many times here).

I think your missing my question. I have asked this question before also. Since I am doing this for someone elses website, its not up to me to use or not use something, they want it, they will get it.

The images are already watermarked and lowered in image quality for the site but the owner is not at ease with this, he requests me to disable right click.

Now, I appreciate your feedback but when someone asks for help, its not always nice to go ahead and jump the gun with your opinions. I have my opinions and they are the same as yours but like I said, this is not my website

Anyone with any information on how I go about getting these codes into the website, I would greatly appreciate it.

well your code needs to go above the head tag,
I would sugggest putting it in the includes/templates/YOUR TEMPLATE/common/html_header.php

I would also suggest that you explain to your client what Glen said

part of your job as the designer is to educate your client,

and not just in this but in all things,

remember your client might have heard from his second cousins uncle fred that is still using frontpage that this needs to be done...

you may want to explain to your client that as soon as someone opens their site they already have a copy of all the images on the page

Trust me, I have explained numerous times that this is easy bypassed with a simple print screen or screen shot as others know it. He is a stubborn person and wants what he wants. I thank you for your info though :)

Not only is this easily bypassed by any 5 year old... but worst of all it kills the accessibility score for your website which not only makes reading the image data in a screen reader for visually impaired individuals impossible, but Google very frankly frowns on sites that make such poor accessibility choices as well. Additionally, it makes said images hard to crawl, be tagged and indexed by Google thus hurting your selection of web traffic sources. Meta data is a much better choice in my opinion, or redirect full size image referrals to a sorry this image is copyrighted page.

That is like building a restaurant with no wheelchair access... Just an FYI for you to pass along to your client.
