images on home page

Hi

Been trying to get only certain images to show on home page, but with no luck.

I have 4 main categories of products, but only want images from one of these categories on the home page. In fact i want to show images of 2 of the products from this category on the main page as these are my main products.

Can I do this?

Make the products you wish to show on main page, featured
products, then activate center box for featured products.

Misty has indicated one way to do what you want. There are others. You might, for example, insert a PHP statement into the main page's code which makes sure those products are the only ones that appear.

I used a different method on both my sites (see links below in my sig). I hard-coded the entire centercolumn content of the main page using the admin/tools/Define Pages Editor, selecting define_main_page as the file to edit. Using that I entered the html to display my main image, and headings I wanted, and the body text in two columns below that. Include classes in your divs and paragraphs and you can add those class definitions to your stylesheet and push things around as required. (That's how I got the two columns for the text.)

My method is not something you'd want to use for dynamic or regularly changing content, because you have to manually update it to change the image. I do that only seasonally, so it's not a problem.

misty - I have now activated the featured products box and great they are there, but it is still below the main category images - how do I remove those??

Admin> Configuration> Layout Settings> Always Show Top Level Categories on Main Page - Disable it
