Default shared ssl vs. private ssl?

I am relatively new at zen cart, so I had a question regarding the login and payment options. I read that my web server account needs to have SSL enabled in order for the logins to work successfully. The hosting I have paid for currently enables shared SSL for my account, but not Private SSL. I want to know if I need to upgrade my account to private SSL in order for customers to login and undergo payment procedures to work properly in my site.

    Unless you have specific payment
    method/s i.e. googlecheckout, paypal.pro...
that requires ssl, normal login/out for customers
should not require ssl to work perfectly fine.

misty is correct there. You may still want to get private ssl, however, considering that the price starts at 15usd per year, and it gives the customers some peace in mind.
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

Thank you both for your quick feedback. I am planning on using the regular paypal links for payment..

I don't have my site ready yet, but the products I will be offering are just online cliparts and graphics for purchase, that can be downloaded via zip file automatically once the customer makes the payment....There's no shipping, taxes involved as such, but I am not sure how to implement all this via paypal and whether I can use the shared SSL to do this.

For what you outline above...paypal normal will be fine...
just activate paypal payment via zencart admin and enter
relevant details for your own pay pal account..as yellow says,
if you want your customers to feel secure, then using share
ssl will be fine...but get zencart up and running first before worrying about that..
