Best Rate option

Comes up and do not want to offer it. How can I remove it from the options available to the customer?

Uninstall it in your Admin...

Admin > Modules >> Shipping >>> Table Rate

I think the default installation has Flat Rate enabled. This may be what you are seeing as an option when checking out.

Admin > Modules >> Shipping >>> Flat Rate

Look over the shipping modules list and enable/disable or install/uninstall depending on what you want to show up in your store.

Per Item (Best Way) is what I need to get rid of. How do I do this?

Go to Modules ... Shipping ...

Click on Item Rate item ...

Click on REMOVE button ...

Does that remove it from your list of Shipping methods in your catalog?

Thanks for the update and glad you were able to get rid of the Per Item item shipping method from displaying by clicking the REMOVE button so that it wouldn't appear on the checkout ...
