Default Enabling SSL... a bit of a disaster

    Hi,

I've just tried enabling SSL having followed this tutorial.

I'm pretty sure we have our own certificate (I can see it's been installed via cPanel) so have made the necessary changes to includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php.

Things seem to have gone horribly wrong though.

To begin with, trying to access my store via https://WWW.mystore.co.uk doesn't work, I get a browser error in firefox something along the lines of "The certificate is only valid for mystore.co.uk". I'm not sure if this is a problem or not?

I can access the store using https://mystore.co.uk but it seems to have lost all formatting and images, etc.
I can't figure this one out because I specifically used relative paths in preparation for enabling SSL.

Another note, we've been using a mod rewrite to redirect mysite.co.uk to www.mysite.co.uk (SEO purposes), I've removed this because I'm not sure if it could be causing issues?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    FORGET WHAT I JUST SAID!

Everything seems to be working now, I've just rejigged the configure files so define('HTTPS_SERVER' doesn't include www in the address.

OK, it seems the core of the problem was the mod rewrite we were using to redirect mysite.co.uk to www.mysite.co.uk.
The mod rewrite seemed to be working against the https server define, ie. https://mysite.co.uk was redirecting to http://www.mysite.co.uk ...obviously not good.

But it's annoying because I really wanted to keep the mod rewrite redirect in place. Does anyone know if there's a way I can get around this?

Is it because our host has registered a SSL certificate for us without the www? Can I get around this?
