http to https takes 20 seconds

I have read thread after thread on this subject and I don't think I ever found a real answer.

Now this could be just MY crappy connection, but when I try and access a SSL page on my sites, it can take up to 20 seconds before the page even starts loading.

http://www.liberty-flag.com is on a dedicated server (not GoDaddy with a GD Cert) when you click the "Log In" link it takes a Looooooooong time before it starts loading.

http://www.bulklights.com is on GoDaddy shared hosting with a dedicated IP and SSL and it takes almost as long.

I loaded another zenner's site and it did the switch in less than 3 seconds (don't know host or cert), and yet another that displays the GoDaddy cert logo and it took quite a long time too.

Is the issue with GoDaddy's SSL Certs? or am I just experiencing problems due to my high latency connection?

Do YOU notice this long lag time if you try my sites?

Both sites take a few seconds, but not that long. Around 2-3 seconds till it loads.

I am at a disadvantage. The only way to get broadband around here is with satellite and I see 700 to 3000+ ms ping times on most sites which is normal for satellite.

Loading GoDaddy's admin site is painful, as well as anything else hosted on GD's network.

Does 2-3 seconds seem fast or slow out there in the real world?

I guess it is acceptable, not lightning fast but not slow either.
