    Default Multiple Category Boxes?

Is it possible to have multiple category sideboxes?

Currently I have a category box named Categories - But I'd like to create category boxes that will have specific titles, with specific categories.

    IE.
    Budget Categories
    Most Popular Categories
    Seasonal Categories

    etc

I'm new to customizing ZenCart, and haven't found the answer to this, though I'm certain this is possible - It seems ZenCart can do just about anything :)

In the off-chance that it isn't built-in, can someone guide me on which files I'd need to modify and a rough outline of the steps I'd need to take?

    Thanks

If you really need completely separate boxes that can go in different locations, see the Parent Categories Separated in Three Sideboxes thread. It's a whole bunch of work, but can give you ultimate flexibility.

If the category "boxes" can be stacked in one column, then you can get the organizational look without going deep into code by installing Categories Dressing. You can create headings above specified categories, which can be styled to look like the main box heading. If you don't want the overall "Categories" heading, you can hide that with CSS (a separate issue from Cat Dressing).

If you are comfortable with php, you can look at the "simple category tree" module, it gives you the ability to have as many category sideboxes as you want, wherever you want it.
You can tell it to build the tree from any parent category you want, and there are many settings that can be changed.
Please note that you should be fairly comfortable with php though, I have seen people who dont fully get php struggling with it. You have been warned.
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

    Thanks for the input guys!

For the "simple category tree" all I could find was the "dynamic category tree", is that what you meant?

For the "Parent Categories Separated in Three Sideboxes" thread, well that is a lot of work - but does give me the flexibility that was after.

I'll mull around and see what can be done.

    Thanks again!

take a look at my site www.coolcarpartsonline.com Each master category is displayed in a separate box. This can be done by adding a few codes to the blank side box. I will be welling to email post the information or add it as a mod in the download section. All you need to do is change some text from the blank sidebox and add php code that call to display the product category defined by the master category.

I wish you explain which code we should change. I also wish to link the main categories with internal links.

Thank you and all the memebers of this forum that work hard for us!!!

    Have a great year.

email me at [email protected] I will email you the code to try. It doesn't alter any of the zen cart folder so if it doesn't work you can just remove the files you added.

You can see it in action on my website. Every one of the categories boxes are done using the code.
