I messed up

While trying to re-install the ZC for my site and uploading the backup files that I had on my other computer, it is now back to the vanilla install with all the defaults and no products.

Should I ask the Host to restore or can this be fixed manually?

I have a backup of the MySQL also.

How can I avoid that in the future?

You should select your custom template from the template selection. Then if you have a database backup restore it. That should bring the products back. and the sidebox layout too.

The default template was already selected, and selecting my modified template didn't resolve the issue either but did find the overides that I had put in because it showed the name of the override I created.
So I took another look at the mySQL structure and noticed that for every ZEN_ entry there was a matching one without the ZEN_ prefix.

On a hunch I removed all the ones without the prefix since I know I used the ZEN_ prefix when I created the site, and my site is almost back to normal.

Just have to upload the images folder but all the colors, logo's banners and side boxes appear to be back again.
