create a new category button is gone

OMG I feel stupid .. whatever I do in my cart seems to work against me ...

I was trying to setup categories in my store as I have broadened stock .. I did it wrong and deleted the category I have created I wanted to create a new one but the category button is gone ...

I can now only add new product but no categories?

What can I do apart from starting from the scratch and installing zencart all over again .. Thank you for your help

A category can contain either products or categories, not both.

So in your case, you have to either remove the current products, or create a temporary category outside, move the products there.
