Calculating weight?

For calculation the shipping weight how can I add the weight of the box when somebody orders something.

For example:
They order product 1 = 1lbs, product 2 = 1lbs which makes the total product weight = 2lbs. The box I will ship this with weights 1lbs.
How can I make it work Zen Cart sends a weight of 3lbs to Fedex (or any other shipper) for the cost calculation?

You might look at the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... and see if working with the Tare Weights can get you closer to your goal ...

Sometime, between the Product Weight, Tare Weight and the Handling Charges you can get to a better charge ...

For example if I put in the Tare weight for small packages:
50:1 it means if the product weight = 1lbs Zen Cart will add 0.5lbs (50%) to calculate the shipping weight?

products_weight + (products_weight * 50%) + 1lb ...

You have options for add a percentage:weight or using both ...

0:3 means add 3lbs to the order ...

The Maximum means, break the order down into boxes no larger than the Maximum, the default being 50lbs ...
