    Default Dynamic update of attributes?

    Hi,

    Here's my problem...

We manufacture a type of market stall that comes in various sizes. We want to sell this market stall as a "kit" with a tarpaulin which is available in green, red, blue or white. The tarpaulin size differs depending upon the size of the market stall, so market stall size A would need tarpaulin A, market stall size B would need tarpaulin B and so on.

Is it possible that a customer could select the size market stall they require, and then be offered a choice of tarpaulin colours, the size of the tarpaulin pre-determined by the size of the market stall the customer picks?

    phew... anyone understand that?

Is there some way I could achieve this, with or without dynamic drop downs?

    Thanks

Set up attributes for 2 things - as dropdowns or radio buttons
Price I suppose will be by attribute and the stall size

    Please Choose:
    market stall A
    market stall B
    market stall C
    etc

    Color:
    Blue
    Green
    Red
    White

Thanks, but I'm not sure if that'd work. Since the tarpaulin size changes depending upon which stall is selected.
Rather than let the customer figure out which tarpaulin size they need (which isn't straightforward), we'd like to somehow calculate the tarpaulin size based on the market stall size that the customer selects. So they're offered the correct tarpaulin size and THEN given the option of tarpaulin colour.

The other problem is, we sell tarpaulins as individual items as well. So when offering a tarpaulin as part of a package with a market stall we need to ensure that the stock figure for each tarpaulin continues to be updated if sold with the package.

This is hurting my head just thinking about it.

I think you are asking the same thing as me... the answer to which is a big NO.

    See this post to confirm.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head! Ahh well, it is asking quite a lot of a shopping cart system.

    Thanks anyway

Isn't the tarp size based upon the stall A, B etc?

    This is more programatically challenging...
If this is not something that is generated 10-100 times a day, it may well be more prudent to just adjust the inventory manually when processing the order versus expending either your time in coding or paying to have it done

Yeah, I know, not eloquent, but most probably best option
