Stock help! Qty 0 is not showing sold out!

I've never had this happen, but I'm working on a zen that will not take out the stock level and show sold out. I have checked and re-checked my settings and searched this forum forever!

The item quantity is 1. When someone purchases that 1 item, that's it, it's gone forever (it's a downloadable graphic). However, it's not subtracting the stock level down to 0 to show sold out so no one else can purchase it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Here are the seettings I have now:
Check stock level true
Subtract stock true
Allow Checkout false
Mark product out of stock Out of Stock
Stock Re-order level 0
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0
Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart 1
Product Quantity Decimals 0
Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button 3
Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location 3
Show New Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 1
Show Featured Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 2
Show Special Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 3
Show Upcoming Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 4
Show Notice of Combining Shopping Cart on Login 1

Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0

Means you want them not seen from the Catalog when the quantity goes <= 0 ...

If you want them to show as Sold Out this needs to be set to 1 ...

NOTE: this does not reset products already marked as out of stock products_status = 0 back to products_status = 1 ... you need to do that ... this feature is only applied automatically during the completion of an order ...

The product is a graphic download, so it's virtual. It is limited to one graphic per person. It would be fine if once it's purchased it was automatically removed from the storefront. It doesn't necessarily have to show sold out.

Are all of your Products downloads, as in there are no Physical Products, as in there is No Shipping *ever* ...

Linda I found this workaround and it worked perfectly. Everything in the shop is downloadable design products, so there will never be shipping or physical products ;)

Yes, if your whole Product line is downloads you can configure things to treat them like products to manage inventory, so to speak, but still behave like downloads, without the checkout_shipping ...

This ONLY works if ALL products are downloads ... otherwise shipping would be totally messed up for Products ...

Are you saying it stops them from going the the checkout?

Are you saying it does not stop them from going to the checkout?

Are you saying it stops them from going to checkout but doesn't tell them why?
