    Default Oversized boxes

I have read a bunch of post about the problem with oversized lightweight boxes getting charged alot because of the size. Most advice is to add weight to the item to try and offset this. That will make it cost alot more for those buying one thing. Because I only hit the oversized category when they buy multiple items.

Is there a way for me to set it up so that each item ships separately ? Like if you buy 3 items it will ship in 3 boxes ? and each box could be calculated by true weight that will benefit me and the buyer?

    Default Re: Oversized boxes

I think I found a way around it. admin/configure/shipping packaging/ enter the max weight.

lets say anything over 16 pounds will take an oversized box, I set the max weight to 16 pounds and if an order is 20 pounds it ships in two boxes.
This store is not live yet but the test I have done seems to work. boxes are charged ups rates and no oversized boxes allowed.

This works for me because all my products are the same thing. If you shipped feathers and bricks this wouldnt work.
