Default mp3 downloads are not working on my new store

    Hi,

I'm just starting a .mp3 and .zip download store, ZenCart 1.3.8a on a Linux server (GoDaddy).

    I experience the following problem:
I uploaded 2 testfiles to the download folder, 1x.mp3 and 1x.zip. I set all the necessary attributes to the products (green dot shows and filename is listed).
I have a registered test-user and he bought both products in the store. They both appeared in his account history and both have the download button. But only with the .zip file the pop up menu appears and the download is working fine. With the .mp3 file, instead of the pop up menu a Quick Time player comes up and plays the file directly - no chance to download.

Any settings I missed for .mp3 files?

Any help or ideas appreciated. Thanks!

Problem is that an mp3 begs to be played as opposed to downloaded. Your downloads should be zipped for yours and your shoppers protection in any case.

    Thank you Melanie.

But I would really like a solution so that customers can download a single song file directly as .mp3 - albums will be a .zip file.

I remember from using real player files on my website, that usually they wanted to be downloaded and didnīt played in the browser. I had to install sth. like a inbetween file for the real audio file - like a pointer. Only with this file the real audio file played in its own player in the browser.

Maybe sth. like this could work here vice versa? Any experiences from other Zen Cart users with mp3 files download, that could be helpful?

    Thanks
    Ingo

This is based on the setting of the clients browsers, which vary. You should ask customer to either right click choose save as (i dont know if it is possible with zen download system), or zip it as advised.
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me
