Default Customer Notifications w/ Express Checkout

    Hi,

I am using Paypal Express Checkout as my only payment option, and this is working well with v 1.3.8. When an order is created there are 2 items added to the order log by default:

    1. has the comments -- none -- and has a green check saying it has notified the customer

    2. The transaction ID and other relavant transaction information (in the comments), however it puts a red-X in for "Customer Notified".

So my question is regarding #2, is this by default that the customer is not notified of the transaction ID? I would like this to be a green check instead of a red-x. Is there a reason I would not want to email this info to the customer? When the invoice is generated this recieve this printout with the big red-x and I get alot of questions about it from the customers. They won't question a green-check-mark, and this is why I'd like to change it.

I've searched and can't seem to find any insight on the matter.

    Thanks!

Default Re: Customer Notifications w/ Express Checkout

The first one is the comments included as entered with the customer's order on the checkout screen. The customer receives a confirmation email with order details, including the comments they had added (and blank is of course blank).
The transaction ID is largely internal information only. The customer can certainly see that information themselves if they log into their account and look at their order info in their My Account area. You can see it as the administrator.

The X just means that there was not an automated email sent to the customer with the transaction ID ... because PayPal already sent them a receipt email.
It's nothing for the customer to worry about.
