Trouble with index.php and tag line

I am stuck! My site so far is looking beautiful, but I just can't seem to change two things. This is my URL -

1. I want to remove the top line:"Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution." Also the second line: "Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in?" but I would like to keep the "log yourself in" facility in my own sentence lower down.
I have tried and tried with the index.php but just can't get it to work.

2. I want to change the tagline, and have it in Edwardian script and in different size letters, but can't find the place to change it. ("Welcome to Karin's Cross Stitch Favourites"). I used a program called Kompozer to do the main text - you can change your text to the source code, and I just copied that into the Define Page Editor.

I find it very confusing when I want to change the text in a .php file, and I first have to save it to disk, and then upload it to the server, and then nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

Could you possibly help me with this?

there is nothing in index.php that you need to modify. because zencart can have multiple languages installed on same shop. all those text that you see are located in your language files. in your case , English

PS: I don't know why you URL is like that , unless you are making a test site and later you will move your shop to right location.
