Newbie help please with side boxes

morning all,,

sorry as this post must of been done hundreds of times over but i can not seem to find one...

when i install a new template on my fresh install "this morning" all the side boxes etc disappear..

when i change back to the stand install template they return .. can some one give me some tips here please.... ive install various templates but it keeps happening

After selecting the new template, you need to go to Admin - Tools - Layout Boxes Controller and click 'Reset' at the bottom of the page.
