two diff sites still shareing admin

not sur this is where to post this but here gose.

site 1 is in root file http://xxx.xxxx.com
site 2 is in folder of root http://xxx.xxxx.com/xxxxx/xxx/xxx

now what i am attepteing is moving site one to site two. site two was clean install same version 137. different new database.

heres the problem when i log into admin from site 1 http://xxx.xxxx.com/admin and do adjustments everything on site two also changes. if i goto site two and add/delete a new admin user at http://xxx.xxxx.com/xxxxx/xxx/xxx/admin that user is add/deleted also on site 1

when i adjust my templates column boxes site 1 works fine but it will mirror onto site 2 and any box layout on site 2 will bee adjusted in the admin section but the acutual website ther are no changes on site 2. when i adjust on site 2 the admin section shows changes but none are made the the template but site one template changes.

i have been thru bot config in both sites at

>includes>config
>admin>includes>config

the differnece between two sites in config are the website locations site 1 would be http://xxx.xxxx.com and site two would be http://xxx.xxxx.com/xxxx/xxx/xx when the config asks for //http_server, https_server etc.

found one section under admin/includes/config that i forgot to change to site 2 address now the template system is broke and getting error Object of class queryFactoryResult could not be converted to string in /home/content/x/x/x/xxxxxxx/html/WEBSITES/xxxx/web/admin/includes/functions/html_output.php on line 333
so it wont let me change template. hmmmm

as for why i am change locations is the site i have is the older 137 and my template and some mods won't work with 138 so before i go thru the major headaches to upgrade i will wait for newst zen. i thought i would only have to change anything worded with site 1 locations to site 2 and backup database in site 1 reinstall at site 2 and keep stor open. well sofar no goood..

eeerrrr thought the abouve missed site rename was the problem but both admin sites control each OTHER still so somewhere there is stiil a place i need to change from site one to site 2 any help would be great thanks.

both zen 137 with same mods and upgrades
databases was copy from site one to site 2
ooh one diffrence i saw is site 1 is using php4.1 but site two is using php5 not sure if thats the problem. will create another database with php4.1 and copy site 1 on to it and then change site2 database to the new php4.1 to see if any difference.

well i had some sparetime and did some looking on config files. i found another post that is going the opposite way of me. they are going from folder to root while i am going from root to folder.

after looking at that post (i dig it up for you) i think i see my error. i will make another attemp tonight to fix my error in my config files and post back.

okay i have fixed my problem. i just sat down and went thru my cofig files to make sure they were right. here what i did

site 1 is http //www.xxx.com and is root

site 2 is http //www.xxx.com/bbb/www and is folder

i have a shared hosting so i can run multi websites from one account. i needed to get the main store out of site 1 and in root out and put in site 2 in a folder .but didn't want to mess it up and lose data. so i copied everything from site 1 and created a second database so i have 2 identical stores running 2 databases one in root and new one in folder. what happend is that after i changed both confiqure files both admin sections controlled site 1 from two diffrent admin pages. it turns out in the long run when i had the website address corrected i did not change the database in site 2 under admin>includes/config to the new database. so i was still attached to site 1 database and not making anychanges in site two. gose to show something easy can be harder than you expect if you don't take the time to read everything.

ok now i am confused 2 sites excetlly the same

site one 1 http:// xxx.xxxx.com root folder so all the change in config would be define('HTTP_SERVER','http:// xxx.xxxx.com/') .... ETC ETC ETC

site 2 is http:// xxx.xxx.com/bbb.fff so all the config files i had define('HTTP_SERVER','http:// xxx.xxx.com/bbb.fff/')

so am thinking now when i take site 2 live and point the main domain name http:// xxx.xxxx.com to it i now would have the HTTP_SERVER etc set up like site 1 and then change all the DIR_WS_CATALOG....... [etc etc] with '/bbb.fff/ now instead of '/' correct???? somebody let me know if i am on the right track please thanks

so this is what i so far understood from your post
You had a store in root .
you have created second store in folder under your root .

now you want your domain point to your store when someone type the url. www.abcd.com . right ?

if you have test your second store and if everything is working well . then all you have to do is to point your domain to new store by using your control panel provided by your host ..
