EZPages - problems with htmlarea editor

Hello, I've got a site running with several EZpages, which were easy to setup and edit, but now editing existing pages is very difficult.

When I open editor, I can only put text into fields by pasting. I cannot type directly from keyboard. I am unable to insert links into an EZpage. Since I set this site up in dev status, I have moved files to the production directory. Could EZpage permissions have changed? Any suggestion on permissions I need to check.

I'm using the stock wysiwyg editor. (HTMLArea)

I can create and edit new pages, but editor gets wonky as soon as I save the page and try to edit it.

more info: It seems that pop-up tools are involved.(maybe?) For example I cannot type into the link editor, or the table editor. And if I paste data into the html editor and click OK, no link is created. I can create a table (by pasting digits into the column/row boxes) but I cannot go back and edit the table after creating it. I've gone to /editors/htmlarea/popups/ and checked file permissions...all are 644.

Could be a faulty HTMLArea program.

Try porting (FTP) a fresh copy of HTMLArea to the editors folder in your installation.

I uploaded a new copy, but the problem persists.

Since HTMLArea is a 3rd party applet (which is nevertheless part of the Zen-Cart Distr0) I looked up support for it using the help file for HTMLArea. It's no longer supported.

Wouldn't it be a good idea for Zen-CArt to include a wysiwyg editor that is current and supported?

I'll keep working on this. Any further suggestions are appreciated.
