Buttons don't show up after Install

I've just installed Zen Cart and am playing around with it a bit.

My first issue is all the buttons seem to just be showing up as a box with the red X. Example is the 'add to cart' button. I can see the text, but not the graphic.

My second issue is that if I do a screen refresh, it refreshes to a non graphical text view instead of the normal view.

Any ideas?

I've only made a few slight changes to the way it installed by default. I haven't even attempted to change or relocate any buttons etc... I looked at the folder that contains the buttons (47 of them) and it seems to look ok, but maybe i'm wrong.

I think i have them showing right now. The CHMOD settings seem to have been screwed up.
