Price by Attributes not default to lowest price?

Hi,
Using 'Price by Attributes', I want to show a product price in main description, but want to use an attribute price other than the lowest. Each product has 3 attributes, and I want to display the price of the middle one. I've already made it the default selected attribute, but that doesn't do the trick. I guess this needs a change to coding, but I'm happy to do that, if someone can point me at the right file. Of course, any other suggestions gratefully considered...

We don't need no steeenken coding ...

It's easy. Say the attributes are colors, White, Blue, and Black. White is $5, Blue is $6, and Black is $7. You would set the product price to be $6. Edit the White attribute so the price section shows - and 1.000. Leave the Blue attribute with no price change, and edit the Black attribute to be + and 1.000. Does that help? Thanks for the reply, but sadly, I don't think I can do it this way. You see, I need to offer a single item (£0.10), 1kg of them (£5.00), or 2kg of them (£10.00). I want to use Price by Attribute, as I prefer the way the product is presented. I have the 1kg price set as default because the 'single item' price is the price for a sample (the product is normally bought by the 1kg), but it doesn't show in Product Description.
As an option, I could lose the 2kg selection, if I can get the Product Price to default to Highest instead of Lowest.

Sure you can do it that way. Edit the PRODUCT to have a price of 5 pounds (sorry, I don't know how to make the pound symbol). Then edit the ATTRIBUTES so the sample is -4.90, 1 kg is +0, and 2 kg is +5.00.

But that leaves me with -4.90, +0, +5.00 in the attributes list.
It needs (needs) to show £0.10, £5.00, £10.00.
No plus signs, no maths required of the customer, just straightforward price presentation. And the default price needs to be the middle one, and it also needs to be presented in the main Prod. Info window, and the products and all products listings.

Apart from that I don't mind what it looks like....
