Restrict Shipping Methods Options?

Hello all,

What I'm trying to do is to restrict the number of shipping methods offered based on the customer's shipping address.

Right now I offer 3 shipping options:

Per widget/US =$8.00
Per Widget/ International =$22.00
Orders over $150 =Free Shipping (national and international)


When I test with my US based address the National and International options show up and when I increase my order to over $150 the Free shipping option also shows up. So Far so good.

But, If I have an international customer, I don't want them to see/be confused/have the option of check boxing the lower US rate.

Conversely on my US address, Zen cart happily lets me choose the higher International rate.

And if it's free shipping then they need not see the National or International rates at all, just FREE. As it stands, customers always have the option of the two (or three when they hit $150) shipping rates.

Can I restrict the shipping methods they see based on their shipping address and/or whether they qualify for free shipping? Preferably by making changes in the Admin?


I found this post which includes a hard code change that sort of sounds like the direction I might need, but not completely.

Going to answer this question myself. Basically ended up disabling the National/International mods because I found a detailed post that gave a pretty clear description on Zone Shipping.

Zone shipping can be configured to do almost what I need. It still displays both the FREE shipping and the Zone Rate. And Zone Rate is check marked by default. (I'd rather have FREE be the default if they qualify) But it's close enough.

There's a nice module in the Free Add-ons called "zonetables" which is a clever combination of the ZONES module and the TABLES module - thus allowing you to apply the principles of BOTH modules when configuring your shipping using one shipping module.
