Gift certificates with custom prefix

I've read numerous places that gift certificate product numbers need to start with GIFT-

The problem is I have a customer who insists their current product numbers are required ... they have a printed catalog and the product numbers must match.

What do I need to do to allow them to start with GV?

First, no other product can have a products_model that starts with: GV

If you do a search in the Developers Tool Kit on:
GIFT

You will locate the most likely files that will need changing ...

Be aware that all Add-ons that might work with Gift Certificates in any manner will most likely be coded for: GIFT

umm ... how many catalogs have they mailed out?

50k, of course. I'm pretty sure I won't be convincing them to change their mind.

I did the ones looking for the first four letters of "GIFT" and that wasn't enough. I guess I need to keep looking.

Do you have a list of all of the files that you touched from that?

I did wrap it up.
I had to look for more than the code looking for the first 4.
The files I had to edit were:

admin/includes/functions/functions_prices.php
admin/products_price_manager.php
admin/specials.php
includes/classes/shopping_cart.php
includes/functions/functions_general.php
includes/functions/functions_prices.php
includes/languages/english/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php
includes/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php

Thanks for letting us know you were able to make the changes and the list of files that required updating to make this work ...

Just be sure that GV is not used for any other products_model or you may run into issues ...
